The Nov 2 mid-term election is fast approaching and although CARE as a non-profit cannot endorse any political candidate, I often get queries about how to vote on different measures on the ballot. There are several initiatives that can play a critical role in the continuation of gains we have made in restoring and protecting our State natural resources and rural communities. Our County coffers have been hit hard in the recession and the County is straining to keep up with mandates it has to provide services and still progressively undertake programs to keep our water and shorelines safe and clean. Both Futurewise, and Washington Environmental Council have information on their websites about these key initiatives. Check them out at: http://futurewise.org/ and http://wecprotects.org/ and http://wecprotects.org/issues-campaigns/environmental-priorities
