The First annual “A Taste of Camano”, held February 28 at Brindles Bistro was a huge boost for Camano Action for a Rural Environment’s (C.A.R.E.) fundraising efforts.
Over 100 people attended the event raising money to help CARE in advocating responsible growth and viable business on the Island. Senator Mary Margaret Haugen attended stating: “It is wonderful to see so many people get together because they love Camano Island”.
Attendees enjoyed live music by d’Railed and partook in excellent tastes of food provided by Chef Greg McCammond, Suzie Jonas, Jasmin Thai Cuisine, Captain Black’s Seafood, La Hacienda, Chef Randy Heagle & Marla Shea, Ford Giesbrecht, Pirates Chocolate, Camano Island Organic Eggs, Camano Coffee Roasters Garden Treasures, IGA Market, Phil Lewis and Skagit Valley Coop.
Guests also enjoyed wine tasting provided by Dusty Cellars Wine, Camano Cellars, Mount Baker Vineyards, NHV Winery, Whidbey Island Winery and Diamond Knot Brewing Company. Chris Richards officiated a lively auction which included items from the Orchid Farm, Utsalady Farms, John Ebner, Milieu Salon and Spa, The Camano Inn, Donald Miller, Schuh Farms, Orchards Nursery, Tulalip Resort and Spa and Pam Pritzel.
Allison Warner, President of CARE, stated that it was a testament to the community support of CARE’s efforts to preserve Camano’s rural character.
